Bike categories that affect your quote
Two-wheeler pricing is not one flat number per bike. Carriers allocate space by physical footprint, so a compact scooter and a large-displacement adventure motorcycle are quoted differently. Broad categories are:
- Scooters and 100–125 cc commuter bikes — the smallest slot, the most competitive price.
- 150–200 cc commuter and sport bikes — the largest single group, priced in the middle band.
- Cruisers and 250–500 cc bikes — larger crate, higher slot cost.
- Premium and adventure motorcycles (500 cc and above) — largest crate, careful crew handling, at the top of the indicative range.
How bikes are packed
Good packing is the difference between a spotless delivery and one with scratched fairings. Layers used on most consignments:
- Fuel tank, seat and fairings wrapped in foam sheet and stretch film
- Mirrors, indicators and levers wrapped separately in bubble wrap
- Chain and sprocket protected against grease transfer
- Corrugated sheet or a wooden crate around the packed bike on longer routes
- Tie-down straps at the frame — not the handlebars — for safe transit
Fuel, battery and preparation
Fuel is drained to a minimum for safety before loading. On longer routes the battery terminal is disconnected to avoid drain. Remove aftermarket accessories that can be pocketed by movement — GPS mounts, action cameras, extra mirrors. Fold or remove the number plate light guard if it protrudes.

Packing that survives a long carrier ride
A carrier ride is not a smooth road. Mirrors are folded and taped, indicators padded, the tank protected with foam and corrugated sheet, and the handlebars wrapped so they cannot rub other bikes on the rack. Fuel is drained to the level the carrier accepts and battery terminals are taped.
For enthusiast bikes, insist on an enclosed carrier if one is scheduled on your route. The written quotation should say whether an enclosed carrier is available and what the cost differential is. Do not assume it is included.
Shared vs dedicated bike consignments
Shared consignments run to a scheduled window and cost less. A dedicated bike transport is faster and gives you a defined date, and is preferred for premium and enthusiast bikes. The mover should explain which mode is being scheduled and why in the written quotation.
If you own after-market panniers, top-boxes or crash-guards, decide whether these travel fitted or removed. Removing them and packing them separately usually protects both the fittings and neighbouring bikes on the rack better than leaving them mounted.
Documents and delivery inspection
Carry the RC, valid insurance, PUC and photo ID. On delivery, inspect fairings, tank, mirrors, indicators and the exhaust for any transit marks and match them against the pickup condition report. Sign the acceptance only after this inspection is complete.
Keep a copy of the RC and insurance in your phone in addition to the physical documents that travel with the consignment. If the delivery city RTO or a checkpoint stops the carrier, a digital copy shared quickly can save hours.
